Christmas Brings Mauldin First Baptist College Group to the Mission

On the day after Christmas, a group of 11 eager college students and seven adults journeyed from the upstate Mauldin, S. C. area to the Mission to help with housing improvements and repairs. These wonderful young people and the adults that helped gave up time from their Christmas break and time with their families and friends back home to give of themselves and to share their gift of caring and outreach. Pastor L.E. Williamson again led this group which also came to the Mission in Christmas 2008. A number of colleges and universities were represented. The group enjoyed the comfortable accommodations at Stono Baptist Church on Johns Island which again graciously opened its doors to these young people.

Half of the workteam labored to replace large areas of collapsed flooring in the Johns Island home of Mr. & Mrs. Brown. The other half of the workteam painted the inside and outside of parsonage of Vanderhorst Memorial CME Church in Charleston. These young people and their leaders have given a lasting, special Christmas gift that will be much appreciated. They know what Christmas is all about!
